Rules & Regulations

Hostel Code of Conduct

Our hostel regulations exist to ensure every student enjoys a safe, respectful, and productive living environment. All residents are expected to uphold these standards at all times.

Curfew Hours: All students must be indoors by 10:00 PM on weekdays and 11:00 PM on weekends. Late entry requires prior written approval from the Hostel Manager.

Visitors Policy: Visitors are permitted only in the common room between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM. No visitor is allowed in bedrooms. Opposite-gender visitors are strictly prohibited.

Cleanliness: Students are responsible for keeping their rooms, bathrooms, and surroundings clean. Weekly room inspections are conducted by the houseparents.

Noise Policy: Quiet hours are strictly observed from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Radios, speakers, and loud music are not permitted during these hours.

Prohibited Items: Alcohol, tobacco, illegal drugs, weapons, cooking appliances (except kettles), and immersion heaters are strictly prohibited in the hostel.

Damage to Property: Students are liable for any damage to hostel property. Caution fees may be forfeited in cases of deliberate damage or misconduct.

Religious Obligations: Students are free to practise their religion peacefully. Hostel prayer times are coordinated through the Student Affairs Office.

Medical Emergencies: Report all medical emergencies immediately to the houseparent or security. The hostel emergency line is available 24/7 for urgent situations.

Consequences of Violations

Serious or repeated violations of hostel rules may result in a written warning, suspension from hostel accommodation, or permanent expulsion from the hostel. Serious misconduct will be referred to the College Disciplinary Committee.

Is hostel accommodation compulsory?

No, hostel accommodation is entirely optional. Students who live within a reasonable distance or have suitable private accommodation arrangements may choose to commute. However, hostel living is strongly encouraged for out-of-town students for safety and academic efficiency.

How do I secure a hostel space?

Complete and submit the Hostel Accommodation Request form above. Once processed, you will receive an allocation letter. Full payment of hostel fees must be made before you can check in. Spaces are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Can I choose my roommate?

Room allocations are primarily managed by the Hostel Manager to ensure balanced occupancy. However, you may indicate a preferred roommate in your application form, and we will do our best to accommodate the request subject to availability.

Is there food provided in the hostel?

The hostel does not provide meals directly. However, our on-campus cafeteria serves affordable breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily. Students may also prepare light meals (using kettles and approved devices) in designated kitchen areas within each hostel block.

What happens if I need to leave the hostel during term?

Students wishing to vacate mid-semester must submit a formal request to the Hostel Manager with a valid reason. Refunds are only processed in exceptional circumstances (medical, family emergency) and are subject to the Hostel Manager's approval.

Is the hostel safe and secure?

Absolutely. The hostel is protected by 24-hour professional security personnel and CCTV cameras at all entry and exit points. The gates are locked after curfew, and all visitors are logged and verified. Your safety is our top priority.

Can I bring my personal electronics?

Yes, students may bring personal electronics such as laptops, tablets, mobile phones, and kettle-style water heaters. High-wattage appliances like electric stoves, irons, or fans are subject to approval. All personal items are the student's responsibility.

Will my caution fee be refunded?

Yes, the caution fee of ₦10,000 is fully refundable upon departure, provided there is no damage to room or hostel property and no outstanding hostel fees or penalties. Refund requests must be submitted at the Bursar's Office within 30 days of leaving.
